the busiest part of the trip was the last day.. this is where last-minute ideas pop up.. and missed out plans need to executed..
it was hard to bid goodbye to the door, to the room and to the hotel staff especially because they have made our stay worthwhile.. :))
Tabo-an market was our first stop that morning because of the pasalubong hangover we have not finished just the night before it.. the danggit that time costs P50 for every 100g.. we just bought a total variety of 1-2kilos..
Cebu's historical Basilica de Sto. Nino is honored by the Catholic faith as miraculous..
The Magellan's Cross marks the spot for the glory of Spain when the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan planted this as a sign of propagation of the Catholic faith in the Philippines.. it was nice to take part of the history even though some say that this was just a replica of the original cross that got destroyed many years ago..
within the boundary of this area are the candle vendors who dance for your prayers in forward-backward step rhythm called "Sinug".. you may or may not join them in their dance.. well, we did! :)
the scorching heat of the sun prevented us from further wandering so we took this time to grab our lunch.. and then headed to the University of San Carlos (USC)- the oldest university in the Philippines.. this brought me into a little bit of confusion since i already have the knowledge that University of Santo Tomas (UST) also claims to be the oldest..
a not-so-related-but-helpful-insert:
to clarify things, i took time to read both their histories and found out that USC was established in 1595 and was brought to closure in 1769.. it was reopened 14 years later in 1783, at which time UST was already founded in 1611, making it 172 years older than USC if you will use its reopening date of 1783 as the basis for its age calculation.. well, it's up to you readers to decide about that.. :)
going back!
we then hobbled to Taoist Temple which welcomes the worshippers and non-worshippers.. they close at 5pm so just a quick visit will do.. when you go here with a cab, make sure you let the driver wait for you outside because the temple is located inside a subdivision and you are really going to have a hard tome going back to the city because the cabs do not frequent the place.. it has cost us P200 for that..
and so the finale has to come, and yes, we saved the best for last.. the main reason of why we went to Cebu.. the Sky Experience Adventure: Edge Coaster and Skywalk Extreme..!
All of these would not be possible without the following persons: Pearl - for being my instant travel buddy even on your own birthday.. i owe you my life.. :) Fides - for being a 24/7 CSR who answered all our queries, who provided her good friends to be physically present to accompany us in going to certain places.. Mike - for picking us up and sending us off to the airport.. for teaching the Larsian drill and helping us find the nice hotel.. Jo - for being with us all the way.. in all the happy times and happy places we have been.. Kuya Rags - for the genuine service served with a genuine smile.. ahihihi.. truly we have experienced the best of Cebu because of all you guys..! thank you so much and see you again! :))
